According to a Spanish Leeds United account on Twitter, the Yorkshire outfit and probable new manager Marcelo Bielsa are keen to make an audacious move to bring free agent striker Fernando Torres to Elland Road this summer, and Whites fans have been quick to react to the rumour.
The former Argentine and Chile national team coach is understood to be close to being appointed as Paul Heckingbottom’s successor, and it would be no surprise if he wanted to attempt to bring some big names with him in order to boost the club’s promotion chances next term.
The signing of the 34-year-old Torres would arguably be the best in their history, given his stature and his impressive goal record during his career.
Leeds supporters, who were quick to react to owner Andrea Radrizzani’s latest managerial plan with one saying “if Bielsa reads this he won’t sign”, took to social media to give their thoughts on the Torres rumour, and while one said it’s “not as impossible as you think”, another said “get Rhodes instead”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
