As reported in an exclusive from The Scottish Sun, Celtic are facing a battle to hold on to one of their top performers this season, with a massive amount of clubs interested in signing Patrick Roberts.
What’s the story?
Roberts helped Celtic win an incredible domestic treble of trophies on Saturday, all while going unbeaten in the league, but it seems as if that Scottish Cup Final vs Aberdeen was his last match in the Hoops.
The Scottish Sun reckon an incredible twelve clubs are chasing his signature this summer, led by Bundesliga outfits Hoffenheim and Schalke.
The paper also reports that three English Premier League clubs are hoping to make the winger part of their plans next season too.
Still, Celtic remain interested and Brendan Rodgers continues to monitor the situation with a view to having him at the Hoops either on loan or permanently, according to the report.
Why the fuss?
Patrick Roberts is without doubt one of the top talents currently in Scottish football, showing a skill and level of consistency beyond almost every player in the Scottish Premiership.
In an 18 month loan spell he’s scored 17 goals from the wing and assisted many more. He ended the Celtic season at the top of the assists chart with 15 in total, despite not being a regular starter in the first seven months of the season.
Celtic fans adore him and would love to see their team retain his services, but with Bundesliga and English Premier League teams circling, is that possible?
