United's miserable 2024-25 campaign will come to a close on Sunday as they face Aston Villa in their final Premier League game of the season at Old Trafford. This was the club's worst domestic performance since the 1973-74 campaign, while they also saw their chance of securing a Champions League spot disappear after their loss against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final earlier this week.

Despite enduring a frustrating campaign, head coach Amorim claimed that he would address the fans at the end of the match as per the club's ritual, and will be straightforward in his speech. He also claimed that he would issue an apology.
WHAT RUBEN AMORIM SAID
Speaking to reporters on the eve of the club's final matchday, the Portuguese coach revealed: "It will be an apology, I think that's clear, I don't have time for an explanation. I will be honest with the fans and say what is in my mind and especially my heart.
"It's tradition and we have to face it. It will be the biggest mistake if we don't do that. I know that the manager addresses the public and I will do that, it's the least I can do. I have an idea what I want to say but I will decide tomorrow. If ever there was a season that we need to do it, it's this one."
