Matheus Nascimento is soon to agree to a loan deal to join the LA Galaxy, according to a report. The Brazilian youth national has been a regular for Botafogo since his teenage years, notching 96 first-team appearances for the reigning Brazilian Serie A champions. He has played mostly as a center forward.

Nascimento should offer more depth for the Galaxy after they lost striker Dejan Joveljic in a deal with Sporting KC last week. The Serbian was crucial in their MLS Cup push last year, scoring 21 goals and adding six assists in all competitions for Greg Vanney's side. An alternative in his position has already arrived in the form of Christian Ramirez.

The Galaxy have found success in the Brazilian league in recent years. MLS newcomer of the year Gabriel Pec provided 19 goals and 15 assists after signing for the club from Vasco de Gama in early 2024.
WHAT NEXT FOR NASCIMENTO?
It appears the deal is nearing completion, with the Galaxy hopeful to have their extra attacking option in place for the start of the MLS season. The reigning champions start their title defense with a clash against expansion franchise San Diego FC on Feb. 23.
