Celtic are finally back to their best and have returned to the summit of the Scottish Premiership.
The Hoops have finally rediscovered their best form after a stuttering start to the season. Celtic were knocked out of the Champions League in the qualifying rounds and lost ground in the title race following a string of poor performances. Thanks to the form of Odsonne Edouard, the Bhoys are back at the top of table, level on points with Hearts but with a game in hand.
After losing Moussa Dembele to Lyon on deadline day, Rodgers wasn’t given any time to source a replacement. With Leigh Griffiths struggling for fitness, Celtic could face a striker crisis should Edouard get hurt. Therefore, the former Swansea boss would be wise to target attacking reinforcements in January.
The ideal signing could be Liverpool outcast – Divock Origi. Valued at £9m by Transfermarkt, Rodgers was the man to bring Origi to Anfield after bursting on the scene at the 2014 World Cup. The Belgian forward has struggled to convince Jurgen Klopp of his abilities and was loaned to Wolfsburg last year. After a similarly poor performance in Germany, Origi has made just one substitute appearance for the Reds so far.
It’s evident a change of environment is what the striker needs to rediscover his best form and a reunion with Rodgers could be the catalyst for a revival. A quick, powerful forward, Origi has all the attributes to be a massive success in the SPFL and would add another dimension to the Celtic attack. The former Lille forward has proven he can score goals in the Premier League meaning he would be a constant menace in Scotland.
Still only 23-years-old, Origi’s best years are ahead of him, and Rodgers has a reputation for bringing the best out of young players.
