Bayern Munich star Musiala saw one of his best friends get his dream move as Zirkzee left Italy for Manchester United in the summer. Zirkzee's brief spell at Old Trafford has been something of a rollercoaster, with his winner against Fulham followed by defeats to Brighton and Liverpool.

Musiala, 21, played with the Dutchman, 23, throughout Bayern's youth teams and in the first team, it was where their bond grew. Musiala has remained in Bavaria since his friend left the club, but they remain in close contact and 'dream' of reuniting together again. Indeed, the Germany international has revealed Zirkzee tried convincing him to join him in Manchester.
WHAT MUSIALA SAID
Musiala said to Welt am Sonntag, via Sport Witness: "You always joke around with friends and dream of playing together in a team one day. The jokes go both ways: I also told Josh that he should come back to Bayern. But you shouldn’t take that too seriously. I am very happy at FC Bayern and fully focused on our goals with the club and the national team. I don’t think too much about where I will be playing in five years."
AFPWHAT NEXT FOR MUSIALA AND ZIRKZEE?
It is unlikely that either will be playing together anytime soon, although Musiala didn't rule out leaving Bayern when his contract expires in 2026. Zirkzee will try and turn United's slow start to the Premier League around after the international break and perform well in the Europa League. Musiala is also looking for redemption after he was part of the Bayern side that lost their grip on the Bundesliga last year, and he will want to cement himself as Bayern's star man this campaign.
