Barcelona are facing significant challenges related to their salary cap, which has necessitated the sale of players to make room for new signings. The Catalan giants are in urgent need of bringing in at least two new players—specifically, a left-winger and a right-back. However, in order to do so, they must first offload several squad members to balance their wage bill.
According to among those considered expendable are Ansu Fati, who is no longer in the club’s plans, and one of their central defenders. The focus has now turned to Christensen and Eric García, with the club aiming to move one of the two players out before the transfer window closes.

The final decision on which player will leave will depend on the offers the club receives and the potential financial savings or income generated from the sale. Christensen is seen as a more valuable asset in the transfer market and the Catalan club will be willing to do business for €25 million (£21m/$28m).
DID YOU KNOW?
United and Tottenham have both expressed strong interest in acquiring Christensen, should he be made available. The Danish centre-back's agent, who also represents Barcelona midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, has extensive knowledge of the Premier League market and has already received inquiries from several English clubs. Christensen has previously been linked with a move to Newcastle United, but the Magpies' financial fair play restrictions have limited their ability to make a serious bid.

With the transfer window set to close in a matter of days, timing is critical for all parties involved. Barcelona must carefully weigh their options, as the sale of either Christensen or García will directly impact their ability to make new signings or more importantly to register Dani Olmo with La Liga. The Danish defender was called on from the bench against Valencia and it remains to be seen if Hansi Flick uses him against Athletic Club on Saturday in their next La Liga fixture.
