Impressive Newcastle youngster Rolando Aarons can “go all the way” to the top of the beautiful game if he continues on his current route, according to sports performance expert, Ray Wilson.
The 19-year-old England U-20 international broke through into the Magpies’ first-team last term, but managed only a handful of appearances in what was a difficult season on Tyneside.
He did, however, make an impact, netting in Premier League action against Crystal Palace before scoring a vital goal in the shock League Cup win at Manchester City.

Managerial changes and a hamstring injury saw Aarons slip away from the senior set-up at the midway point of the season, but fans of the North East club are predicting big things for the teenager, who could get more chances under new boss Steve McClaren in 2015/16.
And Wilson, in an interview with 888sport, revealed that he believes the starlet has what it takes in terms of quality and desire to make it to the very top of the game:
“I believe he can go all the way. He’s got the right mentality. He’s not afraid of hard work. If you throw a hurdle at him he’s brave enough and strong enough he will attempt it. And if he can’t succeed today he’ll make all the small steps that he needs tomorrow.
“He’s not had the best of end of seasons following his hamstring injuries and it would have been easy for him to say ‘That’s fine. I’ll pick it up next season.’ Instead he went away with the England Under 20s to Toulon then came straight to our training camp knowing there is no time for holidays – it’s time to kick on.
“He’s passionate about being a top athlete. He wants to make a name for himself.”
Wilson works for sports performance consultancy Back 2 Action, who count Aarons, Nacer Chadli, Yannick Bolasie and Danny Rose among their list of clients.
