Former Chelsea and England captain John Terry is set to complete a move to Russian side Spartak Moscow, according to The Guardian, putting an end to Aston Villa fans’ hope that the 37-year-old would return to Villa Park for one more season.
Terry moved to Villa last season after 17 years at Chelsea and helped the Birmingham-based club reach the playoff final. However, after their 1-0 loss to Fulham in football’s richest game, Villa were plunged into financial troubles and Terry left the club.
With new owners Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris now putting money into the club and making signings though, many Villa fans had hoped that the 78-cap international would make a return to solve the current centre-back crisis that boss Steve Bruce is dealing with.
The Guardian reports though that Terry will sign a two-year deal in Moscow, with many Villa fans on Twitter angry at Bruce for failing to sign the former Chelsea man. Check out some of the best reactions below.
