In the absence of Kylian Mbappe, Alonso has given Vinicius more freedom in a central attacking role at the Club World Cup. He has embraced the added responsibilities, contributing both goals and assists in the group stage. With Mbappe's anticipated arrival, Alonso plans to field both forwards together to build a more fluid system. The Brazilian made 55 appearances for Madrid last season and recorded 22 goals and 19 assists across all competitions.
WHAT VINICIUS JR SAID
Speaking after his team's 3-0 win against Red Bull Salzburg, he told reporters: "I hope I can stay here for many years. I've always said it's the club of my life. I'm very happy with the entire coach and the staff, and I hope I can stay here."
Asked if he will sign a new deal, he said: "Yes, I have a two-year contract… until 2027. I've always said I have to stay here my entire career and make a great history with this team."
