Wolverhampton Wanderers chief executive Jez Moxey has revealed that talks over a new contract with midfielder David Jones have failed to reach a successful conclusion.
The 25-year-old is entering the final 12 months of a three-year deal at Molineux and the club had hoped to get an extension done and dusted before the new season started.
However, Moxey told the club's official website:"We've had a number of amicable discussions over the summer about extending David's contract, but we have been unable to reach a satisfactory agreement.
"Both sides are relaxed about the situation and remain open-minded about the future.
"David is committed to his role in helping the team do as well as possible this season, hopefully building on last season's successful campaign and will continue to give his all for to the cause.
"Likewise, the club is committed to David as a player and, subject to the manager's view on team selections, we fully expect him to feature in the team, just as he did last season."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
